As reported by Syfy, Sunday, August 2, dubbed the planetary nebula or NGC 2899, astronomers from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) have just photographed the celestial body in great detail using the Very Large Telescope (VLT).
The object NGC 2899 is located between 3000 and 6500 light years in the Southern constellation Vela (The Sails), which has two central stars and is believed to give it a nearly symmetrical appearance.
In addition, the planetary nebula is also named after the annihilated stars that eject a diverse layer of gas and cosmic material into space, often spherical in appearance similar to a planet. Only about 10 to 20 percent of planetary nebulae display this type of bipolar form, and of course this is a very rare celestial body phenomenon.
The planetary nebula was born when ancient stars up to six times the mass of the Sun in the Solar System collapsed due to enormous swaths of time and emitted excessive amounts of gas. The ultraviolet radiation that permeates the nebula makes the gas layer in this object shine brightly until it is absorbed and spread throughout the universe.

Astronomers captured this highly detailed image of NGC 2899 using a FORS instrument mounted on UT1 (Antu), one of the four 8.2-meter telescopes that make up VLT ESO in Chile. Previously, FORS has contributed to the observation of light from gravitational wave sources, and has also investigated the first interstellar asteroid.
Not only that, FORS is also used to deeply study the physics behind the formation of this planetary nebula.
